Life Events

Introduction

Christian life is a journey and along the way there are milestones that show where we are in our pilgrimage with Christ. Some of these are times of joy, others are of sorrow and others are the times in between such as when we are sick. Some events are big and momentous like a baptism, a wedding or a funeral.

Baptism and Marriage enquiries

Initial enquiries for couples and parents are dealt with by specially trained lay members of the church.  You will meet two people who will take your details, fill in forms and answer your questions.  It will also give you the opportunity to become familiar with the church in a relaxed and informal way.

We are at the church between 09.30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays each month and no appointment is necessary. Your details and requests are given to the clergy, who will normally contact you within seven days to arrange to meet you and finalise the date.

Baptisms usually take place during the 10 a.m. service on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month.  There is a children’s area with toys and books, and toilet facilities, and please join us for coffee and biscuits afterwards.

Marriages take place between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on any day except Sundays.  There are a few other dates to avoid: during Lent, Ash Wednesday, Easter and the days leading up to Christmas, although in exceptional circumstances the clergy can change these restrictions.

For both baptism and wedding days, although an official photographer can make arrangements with you and the clergy, the minister is very willing to pose for photographs after the celebration with you and your guests.

For more information and contact details please see the linked pages about Baptism and Confirmation, Your Marriage and Funerals.
