SWIFT - St Mary the Virgin Weston Turville Improving Facilities Team

In 2011 the Parochial Church Council resolved to improve accessibility to the building for people with any form of disability. A working party was formed which became SWIFT, the name resulting from a competition.

From an initial suggestion of providing wheelchair accessible toilets and baby changing facilities, it became clear that more was needed to serve both the Church and the local community and that grants and other funding would only be available for a community-based project.

The facilities envisaged include:

A meeting room capable of seating approximately 30 people.  This will be available to the village and church for small events.  It will also be a space for a children’s group during church services and for small church meetings. This will save heating and lighting expense.

Also included are improvements within the church, refurbishment of the 1960's kitchen, a bigger vestry for our church choir and a secure vestry for the clergy and servers to enable the church to be open during the daytime.

This requires major funding and any financial or practical help will be gratefully received. If you wish to discuss the project, would like a brochure or feel able to make a donation or help in any way please contact Roger Fellows (SWIFT Treasurer) on 01296 424982.
